Multi-Agency Safeguarding Adults Policies and Procedures

The Pan Lancashire  & Cumbria partnership of Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Lancashire and Cumbria have launched an online safeguarding adults policies and procedures manual.

This online manual provides access to a shared approach to adult safeguarding across the four areas, including consistent language and commonly used terms.

The manual is for the whole adult workforce and aims to promote multi-agency working and provide information about how to safeguarding adults ‘at risk’ of abuse or neglect and provides guidance to enable practitioners to respond appropriately to adult safeguarding concerns.

The manual and summary guidance will be regularly updated to reflect ongoing developments in local policy and regional and national guidance.

Adults Safeguarding Continuum

The Adults Safeguarding Continuum is a new framework  to aid practitioners and managers decision making when addressing adult safeguarding concerns. This will ensure they are reported and investigated at the appropriate level and provide consistency across agencies. This Adult Safeguarding Continuum is to be implemented within teams from the week commencing 18th July 2016.

Provided are 2 documents, the LSAB continuum can be printed at any size (e.g. A3/A4/A5) for quick reference and the accompanying Adult Safeguarding Continuum booklet should be read alongside the quick reference guide.

Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

The Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019 will abolish the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) & Court of Protection COPDOL procedure, and replace both with a completely new system, the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).The Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019 received royal assent on 16 May 2019 following, a long debate of the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill over recent months.
