Free Mental Health First Aid Training Courses!
Blackburn with Darwen Council Public Health Directorate has funded the following training sessions so there will be no cost for people who live or work in the Borough.
Mental Health First Aid Standard two-day course at Shadsworth Children’s Centre 9:30 to 4:30 on the 2nd and 4th September.
The two-day MHFA course will help you to:
Spot the early signs of a mental health problem
Feel confident helping someone experiencing a mental health problem
Provide help on a first aid basis
Help someone recover faster
Guide someone towards the right support
Reduce the stigma of mental health problems

MHFA Lite a half day 23rd September at Shadsworth Children’s Centre 9:30 to 12:30
safeTALK at Darwen Resource Centre on 2nd October from 12:30 to 4:15
MHFA Lite will be enable you to:
· Gain a wider understanding, for themselves and others, of some issues surrounding mental health.
· Gain a greater understanding of how and why positive and negative mental health affects business.
· Work more effectively with people experiencing mental health problems.
safeTALK, about three hours in duration, is a training that prepares anyone over the age of 15 to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources.
The ASIST workshop is for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
