National Falls Awareness and Child Safety Weeks – preparations begin!
As part of the Accident Prevention Agenda, we are starting to plan for Child Safety Week (23rd-29th June) and National Falls Awareness Week (16th -22nd June). Activities for this can be planned in greater detail as part of the Accident Prevention Working Groups, but as part of this we are looking to create a short film for each week to advertise services available in BwD around the agenda, the impact that these services can have on an individual, family and wider community and how we are supporting each campaign locally.
It is intended that the short films will be used as part of the digital strategy for Falls Awareness and Child Safety Week, to send safety messages and increase uptake of local preventative services, they will be made available to all partners to screen during any promotional/engagement activities; the films may also be used in the launch and implementation of the wider Accident Prevention Strategy. It is envisaged that the films will be made available using Social Media, the council website and will be available for partner agencies to utilise as they feel appropriate with clients and service users.
This offers a great opportunity to tell local residents about the excellent services for child safety and falls prevention that we have in BwD and how they could benefit from being involved. If you would like to get involved in either film, however small the link between your service and the agenda might be, please contact Paul Cooper (contact details can be found below), Digital Apprentice with any ideas that you may also have. Please do also forward this invite to any colleagues/agencies not invited, the more comprehensive the film, the better!
